Metal vs. Wood Restaurant Chairs

wood and metal restaurant chairsIf you own a restaurant, you might be wondering whether you should get metal or wood furniture for your venue. It’s a tough decision, but by taking a few factors into account that decision could be a little easier.

First, you should know that metal chairs are more durable and can withstand more wear and tear than wooden ones, it is also easier to clean and maintain as it does not require the same level of care as wood. An added bonus is the stackable metal chairs which can be stacked on top of one another very easily, making them a great fit for storage purposes. So if you want to take the practical, cost effective route, metal is likely your best bet. However, metal is often times not quite as stylish as wood.

This means that if you’re running a high end, fancy restaurant, you’ll obviously want everyone to realize just how fancy your restaurant actually is. Quite frankly, metal chairs can come off as a somewhat cheaper option and also have a colder less personal feel. Your customers will know you’re cutting corners to lower costs, rather than going all out to ensure your restaurant is a lavish, exciting experience for them.

While wood restaurant chairs might be less convenient than metal ones, they more than make up for it by being stylish and classy. You’ll end up having to do a little more when it comes to maintenance, but your customers will be much happier, even if it’s just a subconscious appeal. The warm wood helps in making the atmosphere feel more intimate and makes it easier for people to relax for longer and enjoy a fancy, expensive meal with equally expensive drinks. So, despite the fact that wood restaurant chairs cost more than metal ones your investment will pay for itself in no time.

The important thing to consider when buying chairs for your venue is the type of food and clients you want to have. Casual restaurants, family oriented and fast food diners would benefit greatly from metal chairs as they are cheaper, easier to clean and won’t encourage your clients to stay much longer after the meal is done. And that means you will get a greater turnover rate.  However, if you are looking to serve expensive dinners and are hoping to attract mainly couples or high end clientele, then wood chairs are definitely the way to go.
